  5. is involved in various business' (i.e., oil & gas equipment, computer services, import-export) to demonstrate how internet technology can be of practical value to our participants and the international community at large.

Petroleum Open Projects Consortium

Vision:

To facilitate open software development, for the petroleum exploration and production industry, by exploiting state-of-the art technology in a cost efficient manner through shared, dedicated resources benefiting the members of POPC

Mission:

To propose, initiate and manage to completion the E & P projects of common interest to its members, which reduces both costs and risks for its members, as well as increase their rewards.

Objectives:

  1. To provide an efficient and effective forum amongst members allowing them to express their requirements, in terms of their wants and needs.
  2. To identify projects of common interest amongst members. To formulate these projects for member approval and effectively seek funding.
  3. To enable members to participate at their discretion in the projects of their choice.
  4. To keep all members current of all projects regardless of their funding participation.
  5. To provide a vehicle for members to join and fund a project at a later date (limitations may apply).
  6. To assist vendors in better defining consortium member wants, needs and desires.

Goals:

  1. To enable members to easily participate in consortium activities irrespective of their geophysical location.
  2. To enlighten all members as to the efficient use of computer-based solutions.
  3. To avoid the re-development of methods, tools or software code for use in any given project if such already exists and can be reasonably implemented.
  4. To publish information for the private use of all members; and to produce source code and materials for the private use of project members.
  5. To make individual members more productive in their jobs, through the use of information and procedures derived through the consortium effort.
